51% of Chefs in U.S. Now Offer Plant-Based Menu Options
Fifty-one percent of restaurant chefs are now offering vegan options, recent data from food focused-platform Foodable Labs shows.
The new research also shows that those who include vegan options on the menu have increased customer traffic by an average of 13 percent, despite overall restaurant traffic being down. Further, the new availability of vegan items has led to a 300 percent increase in plant-based food orders over the past year.
The new data is reflected in the number of mainstream restaurant chains, in particular, offering vegan options. Family-focused restaurants like T.G.I. Fridays and Applebees now serve the vegan Beyond Burger and Impossible Burger, respectively. Last April, major Las Vegas-based gaming company Station Casinos added new plant-based menu options across the majority of its restaurants.
